Could you be Cara's new Chief Executive?
After over twelve years, our Executive Director, Stephen Wordsworth, is retiring.
Over those twelve years, Cara's work has expanded enormously, as a succession of crises, most recently in Afghanistan, Ukraine, Sudan and Gaza/Palestine, has put many academics at grave risk.
Thanks to Cara’s strong relationships with 135 UK universities and research institutions and the generosity of many foundations, trusts and individuals, over 350 academics, once at great risk, are now being supported to continue their work in safety, in many cases with their families, or are being helped through the process of finding a place. Cara is also working with the British Academy in a separate programme to support over 170 academics from Ukraine.
In addition, Cara has run three groundbreaking regional programmes, for Iraq, Zimbabwe and Syria, and is now looking for ways to put that valuable experience to good use, with partners, to help those affected by the conflict in Gaza.
Against that background, and in an increasingly troubled world, we are looking for a dynamic and engaging leader to take the charity forward through the next phase of its strategy, working with our dedicated team and our strong and supportive board of trustees.
Saxton Bampfylde are managing the process of recruiting Stephen’s successor.
