Cara Visa and Career Development Webinars – Videos
Many of our new Fellows need help to understand the UK visa system and, once here, they work hard to develop their skills and build their careers while they are in the UK. Cara’s Visa and Career Development Videos provide valuable guidance:
Visas
On 13 April 2021 Erika Sella, an experienced student immigration advisor based at the University of Edinburgh, gave our Cara Student Visa webinar, ‘An Overview of the Student Route’. Listen to her talk and view her slides here.
On 27 April 2021, Graeme Ross, Immigration and Compliance Manager at the University of Cambridge, gave a webinar on the Tier 5 Government Authorised Exchange visa route, which is the most relevant visa for most of our postdoctoral Fellows. He also discussed post-placement options, including the Skilled Worker visa and the Global Talent visa. Listen to his talk and view his slides here.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the information in these webinars is accurate as of April 2021. As immigration law is very changeable, however, you should always consult with your Institution’s immigration advisors for up-to-date and accurate immigration information.
Career Development
On 17 July 2020 Donald Lush of King’s College gave our first Career Development webinar, providing an introduction to the Higher Education scene in the UK. Listen to his talk and view his slides here.
On 28 July 2020 Anne Forde, a Careers Consultant at the University of Cambridge, gave our second Careers Development webinar, ‘Raising your professional profile’. Listen to her talk and view her slides here.
On 13 July 2021 Dr Julia Vilstrup Mouatt, head of Clarivate’s Web of Science Academy, an online research integrity training hub for researchers, gave our Cara Research Integrity and Academic Publishing webinar, ‘Web of Science Tools and Tips for Researchers‘. Listen to her talk and view her slides here.
With many thanks to Clarivate
