CEU appeals for help

The Central European University (CEU) in Budapest was founded in 1991 and is accredited in the USA and Hungary as a graduate-level university, delivering Master’s and doctoral programmes in the social sciences, the humanities, law, management and public policy.

Its work in liberating academic life in the region from the dogmas of the communist era has been widely acclaimed. Sadly, in recent weeks the Hungarian government has passed legislation which would force its closure, in a move which has been widely interpreted as an attack on academic freedom in the heart of Europe. Michael Ignatieff, CEU President and Rector has appealed for help – see his appeal here.
